partyboobytrap - "entrapment"

This is an album my friend and I worked on for about 9 months last year. It came out on January 14th 2009 on our little net label Fameless Fam. The beats were made in Brooklyn last summer and the live drums and vocals were recorded in Boston and New Hampshire in fall and winter 2009. We really just wanted to bring something new to the table for hip-hop, considering the future and the past of it. Here's to a new decade of beats, rhymes, and whatever is in between that draws us to that form. Thanks for checking it out.

RYAN ADAMS & THE CARDINALS - CARDINOLOGY

Apparently we're about to get snowed in again. Grab some snacks, brew some hot beverages, and get cozy. While you're at it, take a listen to this gem from Mr. Adams. For some reason, I slept on this last collaboration with the man and his Cardinals and I've been kicking myself for the last few weeks now. This album blows his last few way, way out of the water. Once again Ryan uses his superb songwriting skills and wordsmith talents to paint real-life portraits and melt your heart. I tip my hat to you, sir. Well played.

Starkweather- Croatoan (2006)

These Philly natives mixed various styles to basically stand in a class of their own, and you could say started the genre that would soon become metalcore...long before its reputation was soiled by a plethora of hot garbage. They've been around for ages but this was their most recent release.
If you're into technicality that isn't overdone and cheesy, and a whole lot more creativity than you're used to in the metalcore realm, and songs that exceed the 6 minute mark, then maybe this is your cup of tea.

Newest album from New York death metal veterans, Immolation. Always an impressive live band, they have put together consistently solid material for almost 20 years now. Taken from Blabbermouth.net

"The new material is more violent and aggressive, with fast sections that take us to a new level of speed and intensity, while complementing the dark and sullen heavier moments. There are plenty of miserable and militant movements to please the diehard and new IMMOLATION fans alike."

Possessed Demos

THE death metal band in my opinion. Posting Seven Churches should be pointless at this time, considering everyone and anyone should have it stashed on their itunes. So maybe posting a bag of dope full of demos and eps today might help you agree with my previous opinion, that Possessed IS fucking death metal. Just as stoked on seeing them this summer as I was for Bolt Thrower last year. I don't think they can top the two day performance BT put on, but Possessed should come damn near close.

THE ENTRANCE BAND - S/T (2009)

THE ENTRANCE BAND - S/T (2009)

"The Entrance Band plays apocalyptic psych-rock that is so good it will make you welcome the end days with open arms, as the guitars menacingly swirl in the background and the drums echo the sound of the four horsemen." - WP

First album written as a band. Out on Thurston Moore's label, Ecstatic Peace!

BUILT TO SPILL & CAUSTIC RESIN - EP

BUILT TO SPILL & CAUSTIC RESIN - EP (1995)

Collaboration between Built to Spill and Caustic Resin. I don't care who you are. If you don't find yourself humming, "She's Real," you may need your pulse checked.

The album attributes the first two tracks to Built to Spill, the third to Caustic Resin and the last to Tae Won Yu from his time in the band Kicking Giant. It also lists Brett Netson - guitar and vocals on Shit Brown Eyes (Caustic Resin). Todd Dunnigan is listed as playing organ on When Not Being Stupid Is Not Enough and moog on One Thing.

The Templars - Horns of Hattin

Quite possibly my favorite Templars record, which is a hard pick cause they are all A+. Top track is easily nowhere to play. Walk the streets with this kicking you in the ears.

Grey Area- Grey Area (1998)

So, I was just studying for a shitty economics test and a song from this album came on. Naturally, I stopped for a second to think about the days when I used to listen to this band all the time and belittle/bully Eric on a daily basis in high school. Have fun listening to this as I reminisce putting Eric in a rear naked choke hold or the casual nooggie of the sorts.

DAWES - NORTH HILLS

If you've been disappointed with the last few Wilco records, are tired of putting the same few Band of Horses tracks on repeat, and need something to keep you from offing yourself Elliot Smith-style in this dead of winter from listening to too much of him or Bon Iver, then you should probably check out Dawes. These young gents from North Hills, CA really know how to tug on the heart strings and pull you towards the hopes of warmer weather, driving with the windows down, girls in skirts, and all the wonderful things that we Wonder Years-boys look forward to in the coming months. (I'm talking about the rad TV show from our childhood, not the corny band) So if you're in to nostalgic moments, CSNY, Being There - era Wilco, syrupy vocals, and a record to make out to this summer, then check out Dawes.

FORM A LOG - LOGGED AND LOADED

FORM A LOG -LOGGED AND LOADED (2009)

Form A Log is Noah from Social Junk, Ren from God Willing/Mercy Light etc., & Rick of The New Flesh literally playing cassettes and 4-tracks along with a large dose of 'consumption' [released by Human Conduct]. I'm not going to lie. This is almost hard for me to listen to at times. Still rules though. Lots of drum&bass loops with constant rewinding and fast-forwading atmospheric future/space overdubs. If you liked the Social Junk, you might dig this. Enjoy maybe? Probably not.

THE G - HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT

THE G - HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT (2008)

First demo by this lo-fi, fuzz-pop, post-grunge outfit from Philly. Ex-Fight Amp, The Funeral Bird, Gunna Vahm, and a bunch more. There's two drummers on this and I think the guitar is tuned to a banjo. Sup 90's? Buy their new LP

"The end is here, the end is here, we're all doomed."
